And I generalized the finger pointing when I said, "all the idiots with money and power". That being re-said, we are agreeing. :) Its sickening to think that such good things get stalwarted because of money and power. It is the only reason I can't swallow the age old saying/belief that people are 'generally good.' No, that makes it waaaaay to easy in my books. Fact is, people are generally idiots - its a select few 'good' that muster up the gumption to research something old and make it new in its own way. Just look at our politicians and lawmakers - that'll show you where the real 'good' people are.. LOL If we had it their way, we'd all still be living in caves, cooking over open fire and grunting noises at each other.. : but fuel companies buy the patents and keep them on the shelf. My chemistry teacher in highschool had a friend that was a professor at a college that developed carbs for cars that were much more efficient and Exxon bought the patent. In the 70's my dad had a friend that had a v-8 suburban that got around 40mpg while towing a trailer. Chevy tried to buy it back from the guy several times because it was an experimental motor that was not supposed to be sold. Don't try and blame a president for lack of fuel cell research, just look at the ethics of corporate america lately and tell me that it's not in the corporations best interest to stifle this type of research.
